oops that last entry ended wrong what I meant to say was that every single band I have seen here has sooner or later had a Djembe in it. Also every band I have seen here has been identified to me by ethnic group."that band is fula people from senegal.that band is malinke ect"I have been reading a book called"The Music of Africa" byKwabena Nketia He says that music in Africa is a social activity and a part ofcommunity life. Is it part of how communities identify or define themselves is that why every time we learn a drum rythym or go see a band we are told what groups music it is. I am begining bto think that music really does play a different role here.
