Finally, I can connect!

The inability to maintain contact with those back home has been my biggest frustration so far. During our hour at the internet cafe on Wednesdqy, I almost managed to send one email before it was time to leave. One really gets a sense of the differences in priorities when away from the comforts of home! I am at the point where I don;t care much about connecting. The people are warm and wonderful, and they all seem to want to connect with Americans: As we were traveling by taxi through the city today, many people yelled greetings and gave the thumbs up as we passed. I have been greeted with /Obama is good/ many times.

The drumming and dance classes are very intense. There is so much to learn, but we are all hanging in there.

We are off to the island of Roume for relaxation. Amara has musical entertainment planned for us while we are there. I will write more next time, but goodbye for now. Have a great weekend.

  1. Sounds like a rather eventful trip thusfar! I am eager to see this Amara character, as Dr. Barton says he is an awesome drummer.

  2. I totally agree with professor Fosheim! It took me the entire hour to get connected to the internet and set up an account, by that time it was time to leave!!! But living here in Guinee I have learned to be more patient. Nothing here is rushed, no worries. Just the freedom of enjoying life. The people are so welcoming.

I am especially loving the dance and drumming classes. Our instructors are well known for African Dance and Drumming around Guinee and other parts of the world
