on the roof
Many of people here seem to live in compounds behind walls many of the compounds have patios or courtyards, also many of the roofs are partly or all porch. Ours is kind of unfinished no roof[thus no shade] Now that we are getting settled in there is actually time to go up there and sit. Here are some obserevations,A . This seems to be a prosperous suburban neighborhood near an unfinished mainson that was going to be the last presidents house He died in december and his house is not finished. There are a lot of unfinished houses in Conakry I think construction is a slow process here. In Conakry the vast majority of the construction is massonary.I have seen several trucks full f sand(for mixing cement} It is also not unusual to see sand piles in front of partly finished houses. So You sit on the roof looking at the unfinished compounds, mango and cocunut trees(those seem to be common trees here although there a lot more mango trees than coconut palms9 oil palms are much more common]. So there you sit the traffic is f inally light and you can clearly heare the evening call for prayer from the concrete mosque about 2 blocks away and the sun sets and it is time for supper.
